THE FILM IS JUST THE BEGINNING, BUT WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

Bobby’s Kids is more than a film — it’s a legacy project rooted in love, music, and the transformational power of opportunity.

Independently produced and financed outside of the traditional Hollywood system, this film tells the story of legendary Detroit band director Bobby L. Brown, and how he used the power of HBCU band culture to change the lives of countless young people — including mine.

🎷 Band Clinics & Events –

Now that the film is headed to national television and streaming in February, we’re calling on our community to help us take this movement even further. Your support fuels:

🎓 Band Scholarships –

We’re awarding scholarships to students for summer band camps at Southern University and Florida A&M University (The Marching 100).

We’ve successfully hosted one in Detroit and plan to expand these inspiring and skill-building experiences.

🎯 College & Career Mentorship –

Offering guidance, resources, and support to help students see what’s possible beyond the band room.

🎥 Screenings & Tools for Educators –

Empowering band directors and schools with resources to recruit, inspire, and impact the next generation.

This is just the beginning — and your contribution makes it possible.

You can choose from the giving tiers below or contribute any amount that’s meaningful to you. Every gift helps move this mission forward.

Thank you for being part of keeping this legacy alive.

PROJECT IGNITION

Inspired by the life-changing exposure Mr. Brown gave his students

Project Ignition is a national initiative to spark new possibilities for the next generation. Through HBCU summer band scholarships, mentorship, leadership workshops, and support for band directors, we’re helping students and educators ignite their dreams—and take them from possibility to reality.
